Celebrating our Nurses and careers in Nursing care
Did you know that we employ circa 180 registered nurses across our 10 nursing homes in Wales?
They work alongside Health Care Practitioners, Care Assistants, Therapy Assistants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to provide outstanding care and support to meet the complex needs of the people we support. We care for people who have mental health and neurological conditions, learning disabilities and brain injury.
We work closely with Swansea and Cardiff Universities, the University of South Wales and the Open University. Our registered nurses are accredited as Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors so they can make sure the students meet the education standards required by our university partners and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Registered Nurses work to the NMC Code which makes sure we maintain the highest of both clinical and professional standards in the care that we provide. It also ensures we maintain our CPD requirements as well as supporting pre-registration nurses in their education and development.
Huntington's Disease accreditation
Huntington's disease is an illness caused by a faulty gene in your DNA - the biological 'instructions' you inherit which tell your cells what to do.
In the UK there are only currently 10 care homes across the UK accredited with the Huntington's Disease Association (HDA) and 3 of these are with ivolve in Wales - Pen y Bont, Yr Ysgol (the first home in Wales to receive accreditation) and Cwm Gwendraeth.
Nursing Academy
Here at ivolve we also have a Nursing Academy which supports colleagues to continue in their employment as Support Workers while studying part time with the Open University. The ivolve Student Nurses will graduate with a BSc in Nursing and will form part of our future nursing workforce. We currently have a number of students who are enjoying their placements both in ivolve nursing homes and in the NHS through partnership working with our Health Boards across South Wales and with Nuffield Hospitals.
