Job Title: Divisional Financial Controller- 12 months fixed term contract (Hybrid)

Vacancy Location:  Horley, RH6 9AU

Shifts: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Role Overview

 

 We are looking for a Divisional Financial Controller to join our team in East Surrey on a 12 month fixed term contract. The role will involve:

  • Overseeing  the divisional finance team responsible for management accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.
  • Driving improvements in efficiency of processes, reporting and strong controls whilst developing the finance team.
  • Business Partnering with the Managing Director and functional teams to bring insight, support decision making and drive business performance.
  • Ensuring a consistent working approach across the historical entities within the region is maintained- good understanding of controls and process management
  • Supporting the transformation team to embed new finance processes with the system in early 2025 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the month end management accounts and all supporting management information are completed to a high quality and are timely and accurate.
  • Manage divisional cashflow and banking reporting, ensuring the cashflow position is well managed and forward-looking forecasts understood and accurate, to include sales invoicing, cash collection / debtor management, purchase invoicing and accruals, payroll recognition etc.
  • Ensure there are strong controls, processes and reporting in place across the finance team.
  • Ensure any balance sheet risks are identified and minimised.
  • Co-ordinate the external audit- liaising with external auditors on divisional requirements.
  • Drive improvements in efficiency of processes, reporting and strong controls whilst developing the finance team – coaching, supporting and upskilling across the team and driving collective ownership and embedding a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Partner with key stakeholders in the business to bring insights into financial performance, understand the impact of key levers and support in driving actions to improve.
  • Lead on any divisional finance improvement projects, including systems and process improvements.
  • Work closely with the wider Group finance team to build strong collaborative relationships across the function as a whole and identify improvements that benefit the overall group.

Main Skills & Experience for this role:

  • Relevant finance qualification(s).
  • Strong team leadership, ability to drive change, focused on team development and a great communicator.  Not hierarchical and happy to get stuck in and lead from the front.
  • Depth of financial experience in particular in relation to management accounts preparation, with a strong understanding of processes across the different aspects of finance.
  • Strong collaborator, great at building relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, with a can-do attitude, whilst also holding stakeholders to account on delivery.
  • Ability to work in an organisation with complexity in structure (multiple regions and entities).
  • Ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks across a varied team with multiple stakeholders.  Be flexible, adaptable and proactive.
