A Spotlight on Learning & Development

We wanted to share a little bit more about what it's like here at ivolve, and so we're sharing some interviews with some of our friendly team. In this blog, we'll talk to a member of our Learning & Development team.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.A: Hi, I’m Tom. I’ve been in health and social care since I was 18, starting as a Support Worker and working my way up to Registered Manager roles. I’ve always been passionate about this field, especially about learning disabilities. For the past 6 years, I’ve been in training, moving from being a regional trainer to account management. Now, I’m excited to bring that knowledge back to health and social care at ivolve, where I can work with like-minded people.

Outside of work, I’m all about family and rugby, despite a few injuries!

Q: How long have you been in Learning and Development?A: I joined ivolve in January 2023, so about a year and a half. But I’ve been in Learning and Development for 6 years.

Q: What drew you to ivolve?A: The values and the people. I knew my current manager from previous roles, and her passion impressed me. When I delved deeper into ivolve, I found a company that resonated with me both professionally and personally. ivolve invests in its colleague development, including Career pathways that include flexible apprenticeships and nationally recognised qualifications.

Q: Can you walk us through your career journey?A: My career started unexpectedly during university, when I took a summer job at a camp. That led me into a care career, starting as a Support Worker and climbing up to Service Manager. At 30, I shifted gears into training, starting as an assessor and eventually becoming an account manager. Now, as Learning and Development Manager at ivolve, I feel like I’ve found my ideal role.

Q: What’s the best part of your job?A: Helping others build their career paths and develop professionally.

Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be?A: Honestly, there’s not much I’d change about my job. It’s filled with great people and a great company. But if I could wish for one thing, it would be for everyone to share the same passion for Learning and Development.
