Job description
Job Title: Credit Controller
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Salary: Dependant on experience
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days in-office)
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding debt, maintaining accurate financial records, and resolving queries efficiently. This role works closely with customers, local authorities, and internal teams to minimise overdue balances and support healthy cash flow.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively chase outstanding debt in line with agreed credit terms
Monitor and manage aged debt, escalating high-risk or long-overdue accounts where appropriate
Liaise with customers to resolve payment issues and account queries
Deal with local authorities queries, investigating discrepancies and resolving problems in a timely manner
Perform regular customer account reconciliations, ensuring balances are accurate and up to date
Post and allocate bank receipts accurately within NetSuite
Maintain clear and accurate records of communications and actions taken on accounts
Work closely with sales, finance, and operations teams to resolve billing or contractual issues
Support month-end processes and reporting as required
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role
Strong understanding of debt chasing, ageing reports, and cash collection processes
Experience dealing with local authorities or third-party finance providers
Confidence in performing detailed account reconciliations
Working knowledge of NetSuite (or similar ERP system)
Strong communication and negotiation skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively
