Role Overview

 

Reporting to the Head of Therapies and PBS Team Lead you will work as part of the PBS team to implement and monitor PBS interventions across the region.

 

You will:

- support adults with complex needs including learning disabilities, autism, ABI and mental health needs, ensuring the people we support to flourish in a place they call home and empower them to be ambitious and live fulfilled lives, by driving implementation of Tier 1 supports

- ensure you follow our Quality Framework and the ‘I’ statements that set out the way we deliver care and support

- work to uphold ivolve values and ensure this is demonstrated in all that we do, delivering our strategy and embracing change, taking responsibility for managing resources and working positively with stakeholders

- support the reducing restrictive practices group wide strategy

- assess and inform PBS interventions and support operational colleagues to implement effectively and consistently to improve the quality of life

- support with pre-admission assessments and transitions for new referrals

- provide person specific PBS training, Tier 1 and practice leadership training

- ensure you participate in continuous professional development relevant to your role

- work to relevant professional codes of practice

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Our approach is all about co-production with the people we support. We work with them to design and plan things – so we can create the best experiences together, ensuring this is involving people in their PBS assessment and planning:

You will:

- work alongside the people we support and our colleagues to understand a PBS framework/approach

- be responsible for supporting people with lived experience engage within co production colleagues within the region

- undertake relevant audits and reviews of individualised PBS plans and service wide action plans

- collect person centred data to inform clinical practice and quality assurance

 

Specialist Skills: Delivering Great Standards

- assess and develop function-based PBS interventions and Skill building programmes

- use behavioural measurement systems to measure and track behavioural trends, analyse data and present this back to key stakeholders in an accessible/meaningful way.

- deliver induction and refresher training for all colleagues. Also deliver person specific PBS training around individualised plans and practice leadership training and other relevant Tier 1 training.

- review and monitor restrictive interventions in place.

- responsibility for setting the pace, energy and skills required to engage staff teams in relevant PBS interventions.

- work within agreed clinical pathways, PBS, mental health, dementia, forensic etc

 

Work as a team

- work closely with colleagues in internal/external MDT/ Positive Behaviour Support team to deliver on the group wide PBS strategy

- ensure effective multi-disciplinary working within the internal MDT and build excellent working relationships with families and external MDTs

- facilitate de-briefs and reflective practice sessions

- ensure effective partnership working with operational colleagues that supports implementation and change within individual services and the wider group. Identifying any operational barriers and supportive solutions to overcome this

 

Professional Boundaries and Communication

- participate in effective team working and the development of productive working relationships. You will ensure communication is effective, respectful, professional and clear, allowing you to communicate with the people you support as well as families, professionals, and our colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for the people we provide support to

- engage regularly with the Head of Therapies and provide monthly updates on relevant team Key Performance Indicators and agreed outcomes

- engage in regular clinical supervision

 

Service and organisational development

- support the Restrictive Practice Reduction agenda through a data informed/ PBS approach. Collect relevant data and support the development of service and individual restrictive practice reduction plans

- participate in relevant working parties and group committees developing changes and improvements in relevant practice areas

- ensure relevant data is collected, analysed and communicated in a way that is effective to inform assessments and plans

- ensure delivery of the PBS Tier 1 interventions to all ivolve services including support for the development of practice leaders within those services

- support the analysis of the needs of each service to determine the level of provision needed to meet the needs of people we support

 

Key Skills and Experience:

 

Essential

  • At least level 3 QCF (or equivalent) qualification in Health and Social Care 
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care, restrictive practice reduction and has worked within a PBS informed service
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience of working and delivering highly specialist PBS interventions 
  • To be able to travel effectively to all ivolve Wales services 
  • Ability to collect, analyse and communicate relevant data to demonstrate individual and organisational outcomes to various audiences
  • Experience of implementing organisational strategy on large scale
  • Excellent leadership skills which include positive, resilient, and creative interpersonal skills to drive, implement and maintain organisational change 
  • Ability to direct teams and support junior colleagues to demonstrate the ivolve values

Desirable

  • Certification with the UK-SBA or Behaviour Analyst Certification Board or working towards. 
  • A member of relevant special interest groups 
  • Research and/ or clinical audit skills
  • Previous experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
